February 2023 Program
Wildlife Photography
Wildlife Photography
Our lively 2023 Program Calendar continues on February 14th, when Bill and Sharon Draker will present and discuss their "Wildlife Photography". Over 40 years, the Drakers have enjoyed spending hours sitting in blinds, days trekking to National Parks and exploring all around the Hill Country and many other locales in their quest to photograph birds and mammals as well as their scenic environments. Their work has been recognized and widely published in magazines such as Sports Afield, Outdoor Life, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Archery World and Bowhunting World to mention a few.
JANUARY 2023 PROGRAM
"We anticipate a wonderful start to our 2023 Program calendar ..."
Tuesday, January 10th
Kathy Weigand
presents
The Beauty of Portraits
We anticipate a wonderful start to our 2023 Program calendar on January 10th when Kathy Weigand presents The Beauty of Portraits, in which she’ll show a selection of her portraits and discuss capturing the “essence and beauty of portraiture”. Kathy, an accomplished professional photographer and painter, is based in Fredericksburg. She has been the recipient of numerous regional, state and international awards and has received the prestigious Master of Photography degree from the Professional Photographers of America. In a sense, she is returning to speak with the Club by popular request in that several members recalled her talk some years back as an entertaining and inspiring presentation and bid our Program Committee to ask her back. We are pleased she has accepted and welcome her.

AUGUST PROGRAM - Review
Our August program on ‘Portrait Lighting’, given by David Jackson, was a big success and resulted in many opportunities for participants to try their hand at taking photos of models Shari Vahidi, Darlene Smith, and Rob Knerr, while David coached from the sidelines and manipulated the lighting. Opportunities to show the results will be part of October’s PhotoShare program.

In October, at our regular meeting on the 11th, we will be treated to the ‘first run’ of HCCC’s ‘Sun City’ program, featuring an assortment of photos taken by our members here in the hill country. Following that showing, Deb Johnson will be traveling to Sun City (near Georgetown) to present it to members of the local camera club there.

Last, but not least, I’m announcing a ‘Call for Entries’ for our December ‘Holiday Program’ to be shown at our annual gathering at Rails on December 13th, at 6:30 p.m.
